Our 40 year anniversary was held on Saturday 17th September 2011 with a dinner at the school and a barbecue the next day for friends and family. These are a few photos of the proceedings. Thanks to Howard Barker for most of the good shots. I hope that you enjoy them.
We had many notes from those who could not make it and lots of good wishes for the occasion. The Back and Wykoff families were cruising in Europe. Mark Piddington sends his best regards from his new position in Distance Education. John North was at a law function in Darwin. Rod Benson lives between homes in Newcastle and Scone and sent his wishes for those attending the dinner. Greg Ilich and Craig Tallard are in the USA (New York and Florida respectively). Tim Robins lives between London and Portugal. Richard Chau and Roland Lim live in Canada but like to keep in touch. Peter Richardson is working in Malaysia. Apologies also received from Andy Bottomley, Bill Currey, John Downes, Dave Gilray, Andrew Hilton, Ralph Kajet, Clive Lovell, Peter Neuhaus, George Palmer and Ross Peatty.
Respects were expressed for deceased year members including Michael Stacy, Julian Clark, Ian Douglass, Victor Malouf, Guy Norman, Tim Spong, Robert Vandyke and Richard Grimm.
The dinner was attended by the present and soon-to-retire headmaster Jeremy Madin as well as Mr Terry Clarke and Mr David Stone. Each gave us some anecdotes on the night relating to our era. G. Wise spoke about the profound sorrow on the passing of Martin Pitt who had been a mentor to so many in the year.
My thanks to all who came and my apologies that the timing of the dinner did not suit a lot of folks, keeping the numbers low (38 I believe). I hope that those who were not able to come might consider attending a smaller, lower-key dinner in the near future somewhere in inner Sydney. Dates and venues may be suggested by any who are interested. Tuesdays were our normal days but this may not suit country residents who may prefer Saturdays.
With my best regards to all my old mates from Cranners,
Andrew Byrne .. (co-convenor)
